New York L 1991
The new York L 1991 offers just the right balance of clean and powerful, with just the slightest hint of charm that comes from a medium sized grand piano. Clocking in at just under 6 feet, this piano boasts a powerful set of strings that produce that quintessential piano sound that every manufacturer has been trying to obtain for the past 100 years. Each note has a crystal clear and powerful tone that we have all heard on high end recordings.
New York L 1926
The new York L 1926 offers offers a unique and rare sound. Most pianos this age have one foot in the grave. Once they are old enough, they either need to be rebuilt or taken to the dump. But not this one. This piano is a wise old sage who knows his age but can outrun most pianos in their prime. All parts are original. The strings have gained a healthy growl that new strings don’t have, but manages to avoid getting the thuddy low end like most strings do. What you end up with is a resonant, growly piano with a couple of quirks, but boy does this thing know how to sing.
Ningbo Upright 2021
The Ningbo Upright is a brand new piano built by one of the most respected chinese piano manufacturers around. Even the most xenophobic piano snobs can’t deny the fact that these are pretty great pianos. It has a perfect blend of that unmistakable upright character, but with a presence and purity that sounds great on pretty much anything you can throw at it. Powerful, bright low end and clean percussive high end is something you can only get from new strings and hammers combined with a great design, and this piano delivers exactly that.
Chicago Upright 1927
Though well preserved, this piano has aged like a bottle of fine… vinegar. The low end is tubby and dark. The mid range is warm and cozy. The high end resonant and clear with the growly overtones you get from old strings. You will want to use this piano whenever you need that gritty, vintage feel, or any time you need an intimate, real sound. Something magic happens when you mic up a less-than-perfect piano with great microphones in a room that allows it to breath. The imperfections of the piano matched with the painstaking sampling process gives the listener a real sense of being in the room with a real piano.
Vienna 170
The Vienna 170 is a tribute to the piano that defined European design in the 19th century. It unapologetically exudes this heritage with a strong attack and clear, piercing sustain, making it the centerpiece of any mix.
