System Requirements

To purchase and activate this license, you must be a currently enrolled student or a practicing teacher at a recognized school, college, or university.

  • Verification: During the activation process at Reason Studios, you will be required to provide proof of your educational status. This usually involves uploading a photo of your Student ID, a recent transcript, or a letter of employment from your institution.

To ensure a smooth experience with the Reason DAW and the Reason Rack Plugin, your computer should meet or exceed the following specifications.

Windows
  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later (64-bit).
  • Processor: Intel or AMD multi-core processor. An Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 is recommended for most projects.
  • RAM: 4GB minimum. 8GB or more is strongly recommended, especially when using large ReFills, Rack Extensions, or third-party VST plugins.
  • Storage: 6.5GB free system disk space for the application. You will need an additional 20GB for the optional factory sound library content.
  • Display: A monitor with at least 1280 x 768 resolution. 1920 x 1080 or higher is recommended for the best workflow.
  • Audio Hardware: An audio interface with a stable ASIO driver is required for low-latency performance.
  • Internet: A fast and stable internet connection is required for the initial installation and software registration.
macOS
  • Operating System: macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later. This includes full native support for Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3 series) and Intel-based Macs.
  • Processor: Intel or Apple Silicon Mac with a multi-core processor.

Plugin Compatibility

If you intend to use Reason 13 as a plugin within another DAW, the following host requirements apply:

  • VST3: A host DAW with VST3 support is required.
  • Audio Units (AU): A host DAW with AUv2 support is required (macOS only).
  • AAX: Pro Tools 12 or later is required for the AAX version of the Reason Rack.
Important Notes
  • SSD Recommended: While Reason can run on traditional hard drives, using a Solid State Drive (SSD) for your operating system and sound libraries will significantly improve load times and overall responsiveness.
  • Reason+ Users: If you are using a Reason+ subscription, please account for an additional 12GB of disk space to accommodate the extra Rack Extensions included with that service.
  • MIDI: A MIDI interface and a MIDI keyboard or controller are highly recommended to get the most out of Reason's virtual instruments and Players.
Download/Activate

Your purchase from PluginWorld provides a digital activation code.

  1. Register Your License: Log in to your account at Reason Studios. Navigate to the My Products section and enter the registration code provided by PluginWorld.
  2. Submit Educational Proof: Follow the on-screen prompts to submit your student or teacher verification. Your license will be fully unlocked once the Reason Studios team approves your documentation.
  3. Installation: Download the Reason Companion app. Log in and click Install Reason to download the DAW and the Rack Plugin.
  4. Activation: Launch Reason 13 and log in with your credentials. You can also authorize your computer for offline use through your account settings.
